University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC)
The AMRC specialises in carrying out world-leading research into advanced machining, manufacturing and materials, which is of practical use to industry. We transform industrial and economic performance by making step changes in productivity, increasing competitiveness, developing new products and processes and training new talent and skills. Our 125-plus industrial partners range from global giants like Boeing, Rolls-Royce, BAE Systems and Airbus to small companies. Businesses can work with us on a one-off project, or join as a member for long-term collaboration. Our operations have grown significantly since founding in 2001 and in 2003 we became the anchor tenant on the Advanced Manufacturing Park in South Yorkshire. The AMRC, which is part of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult network of research centres, now employs more than 500 highly qualified researchers and engineers from around the globe on the Advanced Manufacturing Park and Sheffield Business Park in South Yorkshire, as well as in Preston in the North West, and in Broughton, North Wales.

From building and operating 5G testbeds, to running 5G accelerator programmes, its work in future networks technologies brings together innovators and businesses to explore the opportunities for the adoption and application of 5G to meet real-world challenges. Digital Catapult is a trusted partner to the UK 5G ecosystem, including the government and those developing 5G, and is part of the Urban Connected Communities Programme and the 5G Testbeds and Trials programme led by DCMS.
Through the Factory of the Future programme, Digital Catapult will help companies get ‘5G-ready’ by offering private cellular network deployment and integration capability for manufacturing and industrial domains, and will address businesses’ concerns on 5G cost, complexity and security.

aql
Founded in 1998 by current Chairman Professor Adam Beaumont; aql is a trusted communications provider specialising in secure and reliable wholesale access to fixed and mobile networks for government, enterprise and innovators. Its mission is to power a connected society by providing robust and novel solutions that enable communications between cities, communities, people and businesses. It strives to make communication easy and accessible for all organisations to embrace the challenges a new digital world creates. The company ethos has always been founded in building collaborative partnerships and strong teamwork.
aql has been providing global mobile connectivity for the Internet of Things arena since 2006, through the evolution of 2G/2.5G/3G/4G and now 5G. The company is responsible for over 100 million telephone numbers for UK ISPs and operators. aql routes millions of SMS text messages per day and operates a wide-reaching connected national network. It also owns and operates four highly secure carrier neutral datacentre sites within the UK, including housing the main out-of-London independent internet-exchange.

Fuuse
Launched in 2021 as a product of previously named data science company, Miralis, Fuuse is the back-office system for EV chargers, powering hardware to cater for the evolving needs of organisations and their EV drivers. Through its intuitive features, Fuuse helps both private and public sectors to get what they need from their EV charging infrastructure. Fuuse users can save energy, reduce costs, access more chargers, resolve problems quickly and generate revenue from their charging network, from one back-office system.

Since its formation in 2001, Machine Tool Technologies has developed a range of services that has seen it evolve into the UK’s leading provider of technical support for machine tool users.
